Taxonomy
Ammonites pentagonus was named by Jukes-Browne (1896) [DISTRIBUTION: Cenomanian; Cosmopolitan.]. It is not a trace fossil. It is the type species of Eucalycoceras.
It was recombined as Eucalycoceras pentagonus by Kennedy (1994); it was recombined as Eucalycoceras pentagonum by Cobban (1988), Wright et al. (1996), Kennedy et al. (1996) and Guendouz et al. (2022).
