Taxonomy
Pliotomodon primitivus was named by Hoffmeister (1945) [genotype]. Its type locality is UCMP V-3611, Mulholland Site 2, which is in a Hemphillian terrestrial horizon in the Garrity Formation of California. It is the type species of Pliotomodon.
