Taxonomy
Echidna (Proechidna) robusta was named by Dun (1894). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Canadian Lead, Gulgong, which is in a Pliocene terrestrial horizon in Australia.
It was recombined as Megalibgwilia robusta by Griffiths et al. (1991); it was recombined as Zaglossus robusta by Murray (1978) and Augee et al. (2006).
