Smilesaurus ferox
Taxonomy
Smilesaurus ferox was named by Broom (1948). Its type specimen is RC 62, a partial skeleton (A distorted skull and lower jaws with postcranial elements), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Graaff-Reinet Commonage, which is in a Wuchiapingian terrestrial horizon in the Middleton/Balfour Formation of South Africa. It is the type species of Smilesaurus.
It was recombined as Arctops ferox by Sigogneau-Russell (1989); it was recombined as Aelurognathus ferox by Gebauer (2007).
