Cyclopinae was named by Pocock (1924). It is extant. Its type is Cyclopes.

It was reranked as the family Cyclopedidae by McDonald et al. (2008).

It was assigned to Myrmecophagidae by Gaudin and Branham (1998); and to Vermilingua by McDonald et al. (2008).
