Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
S. Chakraborty and D. P. Sengupta 2023 Long, narrow and elongated skull, mandibular symphysis extending up to P4 (i.e., the fourth premolar; in Andrewsiphius, the symphysis extends up to the second molar or further), constant depth of rami from P1-P4 (in Andrewsiphius it increases posteriorly), a narrow and elongated facial region with elongated nasal bones and reduced frontals (Kumar and Sahni, 1986). Remingtonoce- tus differs from most other cetaceans of Eocene by the long narrow rostrum, large auditory bullae and post-orbital fossa (Bajpai et al., 2011). They also have small orbits pos- terior to M3, large auditory bullae, and a fully ossified nasopharyngeal duct that extends to the ears (Bajpai et al., 2011).
