M. W. Maisch and E. V. I. Gebauer 2005Autapomorphies include snout of typically squared-off shape. Anterior surface of premaxillaries flat, without a longitudinal ridge, meeting lateral surfaces of the snout in pronounced corners. Occipital exposure of squamosal small, only forming a narrow frame around the occipital elements. Further potential autapomorphies are: fenestra mandibularis long (more than one-third of the length of the entire mandible), low and narrow; sec- ondary palate highly vaulted; nasal boss very strongly developed; fenestra medio-palatinalis and fossa inter- pterygoidea elongate.
