Taxonomy
Leptacodon was named by Matthew and Granger (1921). It is not extant. Its type is Leptacodon tener.
It was synonymized subjectively with Entomolestes by McKenna (1960), Delson (1971); it was synonymized subjectively with Talpavus by Robinson (1968).
It was assigned to Leptictinae by Hay (1930); to Adapisoricinae by Van Valen (1967); to Nyctitheriinae by Lopatin (2006); and to Nyctitheriidae by Matthew and Granger (1921), Gazin (1969), Krishtalka (1976), Bown and Schankler (1982), Hooker (1986), Gingerich (1987), Carroll (1988), Gunnell et al. (2008), Rose et al. (2012).
