Taxonomy
Tarsiidae was named by Gray (1825). It is extant. It was considered monophyletic by Kay et al. (2004).
It was assigned to Quadrumana by Cope (1889); to Lemuroidea by Flower (1883) and Flower and Lydekker (1891); to Paleopithecini by Wortman (1903); to Primates by Nowak (1991); to Tarsiiformes by Chaimanee et al. (2011); and to Tarsiiformes by Simons and Bown (1985), Carroll (1988), Beard et al. (1994), Mein and Ginsburg (1997), Gunnell and Miller (2001), Kay et al. (2004), Poux and Douzery (2004) and Fleagle (2013).
