Taxonomy
Bos moschatus was named by Zimmermann (1780). It is extant. It is the type species of Ovibos.
It was recombined as Ovibos moschatus by Blainville (1816), Hay (1902), Frick (1937), Kurten and Anderson (1980), Agnarsson and May-Collado (2008).
