Paedotherium was named by Burmeister (1888). It is not extant. It was considered monophyletic by Cerdeno and Bond (1998).
It was assigned to Pachyrukhinae by Cerdeno and Bond (1998), Seoane et al. (2017) and Vera and Ercoli (2018); and to Pachyrukhini by Seoane et al. (2023).
