PRC NF001, Nalut (Cretaceous to of Libya)

Where: Ghadamis, Libya (31.9° N, 11.0° E: paleocoordinates 16.8° N, 12.1° E)

• coordinate estimated from map

• small collection-level geographic resolution

When: Cabao Formation, Hauterivian to Hauterivian (132.9 - 125.0 Ma)

• near top of formation; regarded as correlative with Douiret Fm in Tunisia but later considered to underlie that formation (Le Loeuff et al. 2010).

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: "channel"; poorly lithified, tabular, medium-grained, coarse, white sandstone and lenticular, pebbly sandstone

• bones from "within a thick sequence of buff-white colored, poorly cemented, medium to coarse-grained, tabular cross-bedded sandstone near the top of the Cabao Formation (~17 m below the unconformable contact with the Chicla Formation). The associated bones were preserved in a ~3 m wide lens of pebbly sandstone and vertebrate fossil clasts that we interpret as a channel deposit."

Size class: macrofossils
