• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From the Juncal Fm, which unconformably overlies pre-Tertiary gneiss and granitic basement, and is overlain by the Towsley Fm (Pliocene). AGE: late Early Eocene, on the basis of molluscan biostratigraphy. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From near the base of the section.

Environment/lithology: submarine fan; lithified, conglomeratic sandstone

• ENVIRONMENT: Shallow water marine assemblage redeposited into deeper water, associated with submarine fan environment.
• SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Thin lens of sandstone in siltstone. LITHIFICATION: Lithified, on the basis of figured specimens.
