When: Santacrucian zone, Rio Pedregoso Member (Cura-Mallín Formation), Santacrucian (17.5 - 16.3 Ma)

• The mandible described by this reference (SGOPV 5226), was collected from the western border of the southern sub-basin of the Cura-Mallin Basin, within the sedimentary facies ol the Cura-Mallin Formation (Rio Pedregoso Member).

Environment/lithology: fluvial-lacustrine; lithified, sandy sandstone

• The sediments were transported by moderate energy rivers draining a volcanic source area.
• The lower part of the stratigraphic column consists of a 500 m thick series of fluviatile-alluvial sandstones, conglomeratic sandstones (with argillaceous matrix), and water-deposited tuffs.
