• The bed corresponds to unit 3 of the details Maurens section of Neumann et al. (1984) and is regarded as Lower Maastrichtian in microfossil terms. That microfossil boundary now known to be well below Campanian-Maastrichtian boundary and the species is restricted to the Upper Campanian.
