Saint Laurent, near Cuers (Fischer locality) (Triassic of France)

Also known as St-Laurent, Saint-Laurent, Cuers

Where: Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur Region, France (43.3° N, 6.1° E: paleocoordinates 30.4° N, 10.9° E)

• coordinate estimated from map

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Rhaetian (208.5 - 201.3 Ma)

• "Rhaetian bone-bed"

•"The section corresponds to a succession of Triassic bioclastic limestone beds containing numerous remains of chondrichthyans, teleosts, gastropods, crinoids and bivalves, in association with ferruginous ooliths and quartz. The bioclastic limestone is interbedded with numerous argillaceous beds (Fig. S1 in ESM), as in other contemporaneous localities in the region (Caron 1967). The ichthyosaur remains studied here originate from a shale bed (Fig. S1 in ESM). Another shale bed a few meters above concentrates a diversified assemblage of teleosts (Birgeria, Sargodon, Lepidotus ) and selachians (see below) (Agassiz 1833–1843; Quenstedt 1856–1858; Corroy 1933; Charles 1948)"

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: marine; lithified, quartzose, ooidal, shelly/skeletal, calcareous limestone and shale
