Where: Garfield County, Utah (37.6° N, 111.9° W: paleocoordinates 43.5° N, 79.3° W)
• coordinate based on nearby landmark
When: John Henry Member (Straight Cliffs Formation), Early/Lower Santonian (85.8 - 83.5 Ma)
• "The locality is 60.8 m below a major cliff-forming sandstone in the upper part of the John Henry Member that occurs about 220 m above the base of the member and 45 m below the base of the Drip Tank Member (Fig. 2) in the upper part of the John Henry Member. This places the locality approximately 160 m above the base of the member... Based on comparisons to the type section [of JH Mbr], UMNH VP Locality 99 is well above the lateral equivalent of the basal ‘lower mudstone tongue’ of Peterson (1969:fig.5), considered to be of late Coniacian age (Cobban et al., 2000) and probably below the lateral equivalent of the ‘upper mudstone tongue’ of Peterson (1969:fig. 5; equivalent to the lower part of the ‘upper barren zone’ in the upper 100 m of the type section) that contains the middle Santonian ammonite Clioscaphites vermiformis (Meek and Hayden) (Cobban et al., 2000). This suggests that UMNH VP Locality 99 is of early or middle Santonian age." - Eaton 2006
