HD-10, Hassi Djeifa (Cretaceous of Algeria)

Where: Algeria (32.8° N, 1.3° W: paleocoordinates 18.9° N, 1.0° W)

• coordinate estimated from map

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Mdaouer Formation, Early/Lower Cenomanian (99.6 - 93.5 Ma)

• Early Cenomanian age based on correlation with Bahariya Formation in Egypt, which contains the same shark species.

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: peritidal; lithified marl

• Algal limestones intercalated in the marls suggest a peritidal environment. Some of the marls contain freshwater charophytes. The ostracods are also freshwater forms.

Size classes: mesofossils, microfossils
