When: Weissenegg Formation, Langhian (16.0 - 13.8 Ma)

• This carbonate succession includes a complex environmental setting, which is to some extent composed of coral patch reefs (Friebe 1993) and inter-reef seagrass meadows (Reuter and Piller 2011). The carbonate complex is topped by an ash layer, dated to 14.36 ± 0.12 Ma (Handler et al. 2006) (Figure 1A).
