Cheiopteria chelmiensis Community of the Chelm Borehole, Eastern Poland (Devonian of Poland)

Where: Poland (53.2° N, 23.5° E: paleocoordinates 16.6° S, 5.5° E)

• coordinate based on political unit

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Lochkovian (419.2 - 410.8 Ma)

• Monograptus angustidens-M.uniformis Biozones. 1208.4 to 1249.9 m in borehole.

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: marine; gray, calcareous shale

• "Low diversity...high population density shows unfavorable living conditions for other taxa. On some bedding planes the shells formed clumps. The environment was relatively shallow, below wave base, and with very low current activity. The restricted fauna may reflect dysaerobic conditions.
• "Disarticulated shells cover the bedding planes of dark-gray, calcareous shales."

Collection methods: Although community occurs throughout E. Poland, it seems clearly suggested in text that taxa listed occur in Chelm borehole itself.
