Where: Scotland, United Kingdom (55.1° N, 3.0° W: paleocoordinates 4.8° S, 0.6° E)

When: Glencartholm volcanic Member (Tyne limestone Formation), Asbian (340.0 - 336.0 Ma)

• c. 7-8m above base of Glencartholm volcanic member

Environment/lithology: marginal marine; lithified mudstone and lithified, nodular limestone

• The middle fish bed is also 1 m thick and lies between levels 7 and 8. Level 7 contains large limey nodules without nuclei, and level 8 consists of mudstones and shale.
