When: La Hoya Formation, Early/Lower Famennian (376.1 - 370.6 Ma)

• "Falcitornoceras sp. proves early Famennian (Nehdenian) age."

Environment/lithology: marine; shale and sandstone

• see lithology
• "The La Hoya Fmn (525m) consists of shales with more widely spaced quartzite units...Planktonic fossils are less abundant than before [i.e. Bolloncillos fmn] and most stem from the basal part of the formation, where they are concentrated in centimetric layers...The sandstones and quartzites show channelling, microconglomerates, ripples and cross-bedding. Medusoid impressions of large diamter are found on some quartzites. These arenaceous units show the proximity of a lowland source area."
