Environment/lithology: shoreface; coarse-grained sandstone and silty shale

• shoreface to barrier beach, evidence of hypersaline lagoon, "catastrophic conditions" caused deposition of sand body, slopes down into muddy shelf bay
• found in coarse sands 50 feet above an unconormable contact with siliceous shales and 240 feeth below a zone of Astropodapsis cf. californicus
