Environment/lithology: lithified, gray, calcareous shale and lithified limestone

• The gastropods described herein were collected from the lower 35m of the shale interval marking the lower part of the Bishop Cap Fm. The individual shale beds within this interval range from black, fissile, sparsely fossiliferous units to gray to light brown, thin-bedded shales and calcareous shales that containa prolific molluscan fauna. Numerous thin limestone beds, and several sandy to conglomeratic units are also present within the interval. Specimns were collected from the surface of the shale exposures, and bulk sediment samples were also taken for later wet-sieving and concentration of tiny gastropods.
