Where: Al Jizah, Egypt (28.3° N, 29.0° E: paleocoordinates 8.0° N, 23.7° E)

• coordinate stated in text

• small collection-level geographic resolution

• also known as Bahariya Formation

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: paralic; poorly lithified, brown shale

• "intertidal deposits...low-energy paralic sediments, representing vegetated tidal flats and tidal channels...The Paralititan quarry spans both tidal channel and vegetated tidal flat facies. In situ plant roots, throughout the bone layer, indicate limited water depth, and fine-grained sediments suggest low current velocities."
• "a brown friable shale, rich in rhizoliths and plant remains"

Size classes: macrofossils, mesofossils

Collection methods: quarrying, mechanical,
