Environment/lithology: wet floodplain; fine-grained, red mudstone and lenticular sandstone

• floodplain deposits in a seasonally wet, collisional foreland basin
• "poorly sorted red and maroon mudstones predominate, and sandstones generally are limited to lenticular beds less than 1 m thick." Mudstones are fine-grained.
