When: Villanyian (3.2 - 2.6 Ma)

• Originally upper Ruscinian, but now early Villanyian, MN 16a. Triversa faunal unit. Date based on the presence of Mimomys aff stehlini.


Environment/lithology: terrestrial; lignite

• a lignite horizon containing micromammal remains, intercalated with Pliocene marine sediments (Kotsakis, 1986). Kotsakis et al. (2003) 'small sequence of clays and lignite.'
