When: Drakes Bay Formation, Tortonian (11.6 - 7.2 Ma)

• Domning (1977) states that this collection is early Pliocene, despite a K/Ar date of 9.3, which is clearly Tortonian (Galloway, 1977)

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: shallow subtidal; glauconitic sandstone

• gradual transgression, strong currents, wave-dominated
• glauconitic sand

Size class: macrofossils

Preservation: soft parts, original phosphate
