• coordinate stated in text

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Kunugidaira Formation, Early/Lower Miocene (23.0 - 16.0 Ma)

• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From Kunugidaira Fm which lies unconformably above the Early Oligocene Shirasaka Fm of the Shiramizu Gp and below the Goyasu Fm of the Yunagaya Gp (Early Miocene). THICKNESS: From bed within ~60 m section. AGE: Early Miocene on the basis of molluscan biostratigraphy. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From near base of middle unit of Kunugidaira Fm.

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: marginal marine; lithified, shelly/skeletal, sandy siltstone

• ENVIRONMENT: Intertidal and subtropical mollusca.
• SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Sandy siltstone. LITHIFICATION: Unknown lithification, presumably lithified on the basis of age.
