• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Puerto Madryn Formation, Late/Upper Miocene (11.6 - 5.3 Ma)

• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From the Puerto Madryn Fm, which unconformably overlies the Gaiman Fm (Early Miocene). THICKNESS: From a bed of unknown thickness within formation that reaches a maximum thickness of 150 m. AGE: Middle Miocene according to del Rio (1992) on the basis of generic affinities with Middle Miocene Caribbean faunas. Regarded as Late Miocene by del Rio (2004). STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: Uknown position within formatin.

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: coastal; lithified, shelly/skeletal, calcareous sandstone

• ENVIRONMENT: Shallow marine tidal and subtidal environment with frequent storm processes superimposed.
• SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Unknown lithology, presumably calcareous skeletal rich sandstone (similar to adjacent sections). LITHIFICATION: Lithified based on nearby sections.
