Sharp Valley [Kotick Point Fm] (Cretaceous of Antarctica)

Where: Antarctica (64.2° S, 57.8° W: paleocoordinates 67.5° S, 48.4° W)

• coordinate stated in text

• local area-level geographic resolution

When: Whisky Bay Formation, Albian (113.0 - 100.5 Ma)

• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From the Kotick Point Fm, which is regionally overlain by the Whisky Bay Fm (Albian-Coniacian). AGE: Aptian-Albian, on the basis of ammonite biostratigraphy; here placed in the Albian on the basis of stratigraphic position. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From beds throughout the section.

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: offshore; lithified siltstone

• ENVIRONMENT: Offshore siliciclastic marine setting.
• SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Dominated by siltstone or shale, based on Figure 6 of Ineson et al. (1986). LITHIFICATION: Assumed to be lithified.

Size class: macrofossils

Preservation: cast, mold/impression

Collection methods: COLLECTOR: Multiple collectors, including J.A. Crame and M.R.A Thompson. REPOSITORY: Not stated, but presumably British Antarctic Survey and Oxford University Museum (OUM).
