Where: Western Cape, South Africa (32.2° S, 21.6° E: paleocoordinates 60.5° S, 31.2° W)
• coordinate estimated from map
• small collection-level geographic resolution
When: Tropidostoma Assemblage other zone, Hoedemaker Member (Teekloof Formation), Wuchiapingian (259.9 - 254.2 Ma)
• "[...] Hoedemaker Member of the Teekloof Formation [...] upper half of the 180-m-thick Tropidostoma Assemblage Zone" (Botha et al. 2007); In the stratigraphic chart in fig. 2 (Botha et al., 2007 p. 480) the Hoedemaker Member is placed within the Wuchiapingian. In Sidor & Smith (2007) the Hoedemaker is said to be Capitanian in age. According to Catuneanu et al. (2005, J. Afr. Earth Sci., 43) the Hoedemaker is Late Capitanian to Early/Middle Wuchiapingian. Recent radioisotopic dates constrain the Tropidostoma AZ to Wuchiapingian.
