Where: Israel (29.8° N, 34.7° E: paleocoordinates 32.7° S, 141.7° E)
• outcrop-level geographic resolution
When: Nimra Formation, Lenian (516.0 - 510.2 Ma)
• The brachiopods occur in a layer 3 meters below the top of the Nimra Formation. The formation commonly wedges out, but has an overall sharp contact with the overlying formation. The international stage name is derived by the following equivalence: Issafenian = Bilbilian (Spanish) = Lenian. In addition, the end of the Bilbilian stage is determind by the beginning of the Eccaparadoxides zone corresponding to the end of the Lenian as interpretted by Dr. D. C. Fernandez Remolar of the Center of Astrobiology, Madrid, Spain. URL: www.cab.inta.es/2_Inv_CAB/23_Documentos/Papers1.html
