Where: Piura, Peru (4.4° S, 81.3° W: paleocoordinates 12.3° S, 109.8° W)
• coordinate based on nearby landmark
• outcrop-level geographic resolution
When: Terebratula Formation, Bartonian (41.3 - 38.0 Ma)
• LITHOSTRATIGRAPHY: From the Restin Fm of the Parinas Gp, which regionally overlies the Parinas Fm (late Middle Eocene) and Salina Gp and is regionally overlain by the Saman Fm (Late Eocene). Restin Formation is now called the Chacra Formation, but it seems likely that this locality is actually in what is now called the Terebratula Formation, as Fildani et al. (2008) measured a section at Punta Nautilus in that formation, and noted the presence of nautilids at several horizons. AGE: Regarded as late Middle Eocene (p. 9) =Bartonian, on the basis of molluscan biostratigraphy. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From unknown position within formation.
• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution
Environment/lithology: transition zone or lower shoreface; poorly lithified, gray, green shale
Size class: macrofossils
