Also known as USGS#19001

Where: Orange County, California (33.7° N, 117.8° W: paleocoordinates 34.4° N, 103.7° W)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Santiago Formation, Lutetian (47.8 - 41.3 Ma)

• LITHOSTRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From the Santiago Fm, which overlies the Silverado Fm (Paleocene) and is overlain by the Sespe and Vaqueros Fms (Eocene-E. Miocene). AGE: Middle Eocene, on the basis of molluscan and foraminiferal biostratigraphy; from the Ulatisian Stage of Mallory (1959), on the basis of benthic forams and the Discosaster sublodoensis nannoplankton zone (Poore, 1976).

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: coastal; lithified, pebbly sandstone and lithified, concretionary siltstone

• ENVIRONMENT: Shallow marine environment.
• LITHOLOGY: Pebbly sandstone, conglomerate, sandstone and siltstone. LITHIFICATION: Lithified, on the basis of facies description (in text).
