Agua de los Burros locality (Triassic to of Argentina)

Where: Mendoza, Argentina (34.9° S, 68.5° W: paleocoordinates 52.6° S, 35.3° W)

• coordinate estimated from map

• small collection-level geographic resolution

When: Quebrada de Los Fosiles Formation (Puesto Viejo Group), Ladinian to Ladinian (242.0 - 228.0 Ma)

• The Quebrada de Los Fosiles Formation has been dated as Early Triassic on the basis of biostratigraphy. However, Ottone et al. (2014) provided a SHRIMP U-Pb age for an ignimbrite at the top of the Quebrada de los Fosiles Formation. This date of 235.8 ± 2.0 Ma suggests a Ladinian-Carnian age for the Quebrada de Los Fosiles Formation, in contrast to the biostratigraphic age estimates provided by previous workers.

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: terrestrial; fine-grained, brown sandstone

Size class: macrofossils
