Tuanbaopo, Gaoqiao (Jurassic of China)

Also known as Zitong, Bishan

Where: Chongqing, China (31.4° N, 108.2° E: paleocoordinates 34.6° N, 113.5° E)

• coordinate based on political unit

• small collection-level geographic resolution

When: Dongyuemiao Member (Ziliujing Formation), Toarcian (182.7 - 174.1 Ma)

• The Ziliujing is divided into (in ascending order) Zhenzhuchong, Dongyuemiao, Ma’anshan, and Da’anzhai members. A Toarcian age for the Dongyuemiao Member and an early Middle Jurassic age for the overlying parts of the formation is supported on the basis of macroplants (e.g. Meng et al. 2003. Acta Palaeontologica Sinica 42: 525-536)

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: lacustrine - large; sandy mudstone

• "Abundance of molluscs and plants characterizes the biota of the Dongyuemiao Member , indicating that the sediments are of freshwater origin and deposited in subtropical climate (Cai, 1988 ; Meng and Chen, 1997)" (Sato et al. 2003)

Size class: macrofossils

Reposited in the IVPP
