Sister taxa: Mesocinetus angustitibialis, Mesocinetus elumbis, Mesocinetus mongolicus, Mesocinetus ovatus, Mesocinetus subjectus

Type specimen: PIN 4270/48, an exoskeleton. Its type locality is Shar-Teg, outcrop 434/2 (PIN collection 4270), which is in a Tithonian lacustrine - large claystone in the Sharteg Formation of Mongolia.
