Sister taxa: Callipepla californica, Callipepla douglasii, Callipepla gambelii
Type specimen: UOMNH no. F-3611, a limb element (proximal portion of left humerus). Its type locality is McKay Reservoir, which is in a Hemphillian pond sandstone in the McKay Formation of Oregon.
Ecology: volant herbivore
Distribution: found only at McKay Reservoir
