Sister taxon: Stertomys daunius
Type specimen: RGM 455905, a maxilla (dext. with P4-M3). Its type locality is Biancone 1, which is in a Miocene fissure fill horizon in Italy.
Ecology: ground dwelling herbivore
Distribution: found only at Biancone 1
