Type specimens:

  • Taphrosphys sulcatus: AMNH 2522, a partial shell (fifth, sixth, and seventh left peripherals and left xiphiplastron). Its type locality is Tinton Falls (Greensand), which is in a Maastrichtian marine sandstone in the Hornerstown Formation of New Jersey.
  • Amblypeza antellius:
  • Prochonias longinuchus: AMNH 1125, a partial shell. Its type locality is David Haine's Marl Pit, Medford, which is in a Maastrichtian/Paleocene marine horizon in the Hornerstown Formation of New Jersey.
  • Taphrosphys enodis: Its type locality is Barnsboro "greensand" (Hornerstown), which is in a Maastrichtian marginal marine horizon in the Hornerstown Formation of New Jersey.
  • Taphrosphys leslianus: AMNH 1467, a partial shell. Its type locality is Hornerstown area (Hornerstown Fm.) (PROXY), which is in a Maastrichtian marginal marine marl in the Hornerstown Formation of New Jersey.
  • Taphrosphys molops: AMNH 1472, a partial shell (shell fragments). Its type locality is West Jersey Marl Company's Pit, Barnsboro (New Egypt), which is in a Maastrichtian terrestrial sandstone/marl in the New Egypt Formation of New Jersey.
