Sister taxa: Gavialis bengawanicus, Gavialis gangeticus, Gavialis lewisi, Gavialis priscus

Type specimen: AMNH 6279, a partial skull. Its type locality is 1 mile South of Nathot, which is in a Miocene terrestrial horizon in the Siwaliks Formation of India.

Ecology: carnivore

Distribution:

• Pliocene of India (3 collections), Pakistan (1)

• Miocene of India (2)

Total: 6 collections each including a single occurrence
