Type specimen: USNM 22099, a partial skeleton (a fractured, fairly complete skull along with a partial vertebral column, ribs, and several girdle and limb elements). Its type locality is Placerville Localities 3 + 4, which is in a Wolfcamp fluvial-lacustrine siliciclastic/conglomerate in the Cutler Formation of Colorado.
