Sister taxon: Eodicynodon oelofseni
Type specimen: ROZ 1, a partial skull (anterior portion of snout and mandible missing). Its type locality is Zwartskraal farm, which is in a Wordian delta plain mudstone/sandstone in the Abrahamskraal Formation of South Africa.
