Sister taxa: Cyclopoma gigas, Cyclopoma spinosum
Type specimen: USNM 496238, a partial skull (R premaxillary with teeth). Its type locality is Fisher/Sullivan Site, which is in a Wasatchian marine horizon in the Nanjemoy Formation of Virginia.
Ecology: nektonic omnivore
Distribution: found only at Fisher/Sullivan Site
