Type specimens:
- Baena affinis: ANSP 10055, a shell. Its type locality is Church Buttes, which is in a Bridgerian terrestrial horizon in the Bridger Formation of Wyoming.
- Baena inflata: CM 3406, a shell (nearly complete shell). Its type locality is Baena inflata type locality, which is in an Uintan terrestrial horizon in the Uinta Formation of Utah.
- Baena riparia: AMNH 5977, a skeleton (an almost complete skeleton). Its type locality is Grizzly Buttes, which is in a Bridgerian terrestrial horizon in the Bridger Formation of Wyoming.
Ecology: aquatic carnivore
Distribution:
• Eocene of United States (5: Utah, Wyoming collections)
Total: 5 collections each including a single occurrence
