Type specimens:
- Pliolagostomus notatus: Its type locality is Barrancas del Río Santa Cruz, which is in a Santacrucian terrestrial horizon in the Santa Cruz Formation of Argentina
- Prolagostomus amplus: MACN-A 4439, a mandible (fragment of left and right mandibles with incisors and p4- m3).
Ecology: ground dwelling herbivore
Distribution:
• Miocene of Argentina (5 collections)
Total: 5 collections each including a single occurrence
