Type specimen: MLP 11-94, a mandible (left mandibular ramus, originally with alveoli of incisors and c, p1-2 present but broken, roots of p3-m1, base of m2, and m3-4 complete; broken between 1927 an). Its type locality is Barrancas del Rio Parana, which is in a Tortonian marginal marine siltstone/sandstone in the Entre Rios Formation of Argentina.
