- Platygonus brachirostris: Its type locality is McKay Reservoir, which is in a Hemphillian pond sandstone in the McKay Formation of Oregon
- Platygonus pollenae: AMNH 17582, a partial skull. Its type locality is Pliohippus Draw (Lower), which is in a Hemingfordian terrestrial horizon in the Sheep Creek Formation of Nebraska.

• Hemphillian of United States (4: Colorado, Kansas, Oregon, Texas collections)
• Miocene of United States (1: Nebraska)
