Type specimen: BSPG 1937 I 26, a skeleton (Complete articulated skeleton). Its type locality is Eichstätt [Solnhofener Plattenkalk], which is in a Tithonian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal lime mudstone in the Solnhofener Plattenkalk Formation of Germany.
